FREQUENTLY USED MATERIAL
PVC is a plastic material and is naturally closed. The hot air is trapped under the cover and ends up in the building with the effect of wind.

STRENGTH

Acrylic is the most weather-resistant fibre. Its strength, initially lower than PVC, becomes much higher as the time runs. After only 200 hours of sun exposure, acrylic becomes stronger than PVC.

CAUTION! Heavy fabrics like PVC put more tension on your awning developing a risk for it to collapse.

COLOURFASTNESS

PVC is printed. The paint goes off under the effect of sun, rain and heat. Dickson 100% Solution Dyed acrylic fabrics do not fade. The colour is lifetime of the fabric.

VISUAL COMFORT

The same principle applies to the sunlight. While PVC eclipses the sunlight, Dickson Solution-Dyed acrylic fabrics filter the sunlight (70% to 95%) enabling a perfect visibility under the awning and inside the building. The choice of colour determines the degree of filtration of the fabric.

THERMAL COMFORT

Acrylic fabrics are woven. Our Cleangard treatment lets the air through but keeps the water on the surface since air molecules are smaller than the water ones. The hotter air lighter than the colder one ascends and escapes through the empty space left between the yarns. Our fabrics block 70% to 90% of the sun heat. The choice of colour determines the degree of thermal comfort of the fabric.

CARE

Our Cleangard treatment constitutes an impassable barrier between fabric and water and dirt. What happens when you put together two sheets of PVC? They act like magnets because PVC is heavily charged in static electricity. The smog which often turns up in our metros is also charged. The positively charged molecules of smog combine with the negatively charged molecules of PVC and vice-versa making it impossible to remove the dirt.

A BEAUTIFUL PERFORMANCE
Designed by the Dickson group's style agency, the Orchestra collection translates the latest in Indoor&Outdoor textile creation into 200 variations combining plain colours with classical and imaginative stripes.
WATERPROOFNESS

Climatologic studies in India (average) point out that clouds show only 65 days in a year. Only 2 weeks are rainy days and it rains maximum 6 hours a day … Why to use awning as a rain protection? Be confident our fabrics resist to a water pressure of 420 millimetres minimum and will protect you from the Indian rains!

The possible water leakage that might happen with acrylic during heavy rains acts as a safety pressure valve to ensure that your awning will stay lock onto your wall and will not fall on you! Moreover, the rain drops carried by the wind from the sides and the front will tease you more than the few ones licking from the fabric.

The difference between Solution-Dyed yarns and ordinary yarns is similar to the one when cutting a carrot and a radish.
Solution-Dyed Acrylic
Dickson® fabrics are woven exclusively from “solution-dyed” acrylic fibres. The colouring takes place before the yarn is ever created. A liquid acrylic solution is combined with precisely-determined colours, and this coloured liquid is then extruded and transformed into fibre. The fibre never exists in a colourless state; it’s inherently a liquid acrylic-and-colour blend. This fibre is then spun into yarn, using a complex process that prevents colour contamination.

Yarn Dyed
Bath Dyed

Yarn dyeing consists of dyeing the colourless yarn or ecru once spun.
Bath dyeing consists of dyeing the colourless fabric once woven.

The yarn is only coloured on the outside.  The heart of the fibre remains white because the pigments have not fully penetrated the yarn.
